Area 51 has captured the imagination of young people in and around Ellesmere. It is a skateboard, roller blading and BMXing park primarily for young people over the age of 10, however children under the age of 10 are welcome when they are accompanied by an adult. Area 51 meets on Friday evenings between 7:00pm – 9:pm at the Market Hall, Scotland Street, Ellesmere. Entry on Friday nights costs £1.00. In addition to the ramps there is a café where you can enjoy sweets, hotdogs, pot noodles and a range of drinks. There are few simple rules which we ask you to abide by:

Area 51 began by organizing monthly events in the market hall but by June of 2003 it was able to organise events every Friday night. It has raised sufficient funds, aided by many businesses in the town to allow them to form the club. It has made a ramp with wood donated by a local business and new ramps have also been donated by a local ramp building company. Over the course of the next year Area 51 will continue to hold events and raise money to buy further ramps and possibly a music system. If you wish to know more about skate boarding, roller blading or BMXing please contact Area 51. We welcome the opportunity to discuss the next steps with all interested organisations and residents of Ellesmere to ensure we provide the best for our town.
