Ellesmere an historic market town dating back to at least Anglo Saxon times and influenced by events ever since. Not to be confused with Ellesmere Port, this town lent its name to the port as a result of the Ellesmere Canal being built to that point about 200 years ago.  Ellesmere today is looking to the future, embracing technology and opportunities for economic development. Despite the recent recession, Ellesmere is enjoying a brisk economy as a result of a number of recent developments - The Canal Wharf renewal, Mereside improvements and Town Centre regeneration.

If you are visiting Ellesmere and want to know about what to see and where to stay, then please contact the Visitor Centre on 01691 622981or the Infolink on 01691 624488. And here is a video taken at the 2011 Food & Drink Festival
