The Shropshire Distillery is where we conceive, create and craft all of our premium award-winning gins, liqueurs and spirits.

Our family team handpicks the finest world botanicals, distils, blends, bottles and labels by hand in Shropshire.

We craft our small batch gin in our copper pot stills from head to tail, but only the pure hearts go into every bottle, making for a super smooth spirit.

We’re hands-on at every stage, skilfully blending botanicals, carefully and slowly distilling in Jean and Anne, ensuring an honest spirit of the finest quality.

Our sessions run in small groups. This ensures everyone gets the time and attention they require without feeling overwhelmed or overcrowded.

Moolah is a fine food retailer and café and home to the Tourist Information service for Ellesmere.

Moolah celebrates food and drink with a particular focus on local produce that is available to buy in our shop (think a mini-Fortnum & Mason vibe) and served in our licenced café bar. Wonder at the conversion of this former Natwest bank into a food and drink-lovers heaven and delight in the unique décor of the comfortable “snug”.

Moolah is a friendly and welcoming establishment at the heart of the town of Ellesmere. A sociable place to meet and eat and drink, catering for meat-eaters, vegetarians, dairy-free, gluten free and vegan diets.

Open six days a week (closed on Wednesdays) with opening hours of 8am – 6pm on weekdays and 9.30am – 6pm on weekends. Disabled access. Bicycle parking. Dog friendly.

Rodney Stokes established the butchers in Ellesmere over 25 years ago, before converting farm buildings at Mereside Farm into a manufacturing unit and expanding the business by creating a range of gourmet pork pies.

It’s all in the mix !

We make our pies in small batches of no more than 25 ensuring attention to detail and quality control – all the ingredients are freshly weighed for every batch.

Our special recipe filling is mixed by hand, as is the hot water pastry which is made with just flour, lard, margarine and a little salt mixed with hot water. Just how you’d make it at home.

Hand stamped and sealed.

Using traditional equipment operated by hand the original ‘Little Champion’ pie stamper is used to press individual tins with the pastry. Pastry lids are stamped on to the pies and egg washed.
