The Wharf

At the head of the canal at the bottom of Wharf Road the former canal goods shed is all that remains of the dairy and it’s associated buildings that stood in the area where there is now a supermarket.

A few hundred yards further along the canal, at the junction between the town wharf junction and the main canal there is a collection of old historic canal buildings and old forge. These are still in use today by the Canal & River Trust for making some of the heritage metalwork for our 2,000 miles of canals and rivers, locks and bridges.
